Professor Christopher Hayward is the Director of the Mechanical and Circulatory Support Research Program at St Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research.
Prof. Hayward is a heart failure and transplant cardiologist, at St Vincent’s Public and Private Hospitals in Darlinghurst, Sydney. His research interests lie in the haemodynamics of cardiac failure and advanced heart failure management, particularly the development of mechanical circulatory support devices, such as left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) and total artificial hearts.
In addition to being a current Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales and Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology Sydney, Prof. Hayward is also faculty at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, and has been a past Chairman of the Heart Failure Working Group of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.
